Chamber of Commerce of Ulster County B2B Showcase

By Sylvia Murphy, JSEC Steering Committee

SylviaFor the very first time, the Ulster County JSEC had a booth at the B2B showcase on September 29, 2006 which was held at the Ulster County Community College. There was a lot of excitement and energy in creating our booth and many volunteer hours went into putting it all together. There were many booths that surrounded the “fall season” theme and we were one of them. There were so many employers showcasing their business and it was great to be a part of it.

We learned a big lesson at this trade show. Many people walked by our booth and didn’t know who were. Once they stopped and we explained who we were, their interest peaked. JSEC is here to provide employers with cutting edge information on issues affecting the business community, regionally and nationally at a very minimal cost. JSEC also creates a forum for employers to network with other employers to share information, experiences and solutions to human resource and business issues.

JSEC also held a raffle at the booth. Anyone could enter their business card to win one of three prizes. Our lucky winners were; 3rd prize, 2 free JSEC seminars to use in 2007 – Kim Whelan, 2nd prize, a book entitled “The Essential Coaching Book” by Leslie Malin and a 45 minute coaching session with Leslie Malin – Richard Brown, and 1st prize, a Cordless Desktop Music System donated by Christine Cox of Cox Assoc – Curtis McNulty. Congratulations to our lucky winners.

JSEC continues to provide informative workshops and seminars based on the feedback we receive from our membership.
