Ric Dragon

CEO and founder of Oxclove Workshop

ric DragonAfter hanging a show of his latest work in Manhattan, artist Ric Dragon wandered past one of the many electronic outlets in New York City.  Personal computers were beginning to become pretty ubiquitous, and Dragon thought that getting a laptop could be a handy way of tracking all of the things that an artist needs to track.

With a couple winters’ worth of cabin fever and a fair dose of obsession, Dragon developed some skills in the nascent technologies of the web.  When a friend later asked him to pinch hit on some web production, he jumped right in.  It wasn’t too long before the part-time job became a business, and Dragon moved the work out of his home (on the Oxclove Stream!) and into an office.

Over 10 years later, the business he formed, Oxclove Workshop, to provide Ulster County web design, and has become the leading provider of website development and application development in the Hudson Valley.

As Oxclove Workshop is primarily a service provider, its talent pool is a critical component of the value that it provides.  In recognition of that fact, Oxclove became an early proponent of the Capability Maturity Model for Human Resources.  HR is central to the ethos of the organization.

Dragon joined the JSEC Steering Committee in 2004, and has provided the committee with IT guidance, database development, and the creation of this website.

Dragon is also a board member of the Arts Society of Kingston (ASK), America the Beautiful Fund, and is the president of Hudson Valley Technology and Commerce.
